Choosing the Right Course for Starting a Pallet Business

You’ve been researching low-cost business ideas for a while, dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur with a thriving business. However, you want to make sure you get your business off on the right foot and learn from someone who understands the industry and has the wisdom to share. But with so many courses out there, how do you know which ones are legit and which ones are a waste of money? Our pallet business owner and course creator is sharing how to do your due diligence and find the right course to teach you what you need to know.

Research Your Pallet Business Course Creator

Let’s say you want to start a pallet business (we’re biased as that’s our wheelhouse). You’re looking for a course that will teach you everything you need to know to get off the ground, from where to source materials to understand the shipping and trucking aspect of getting your pallets into the hands of your clients.

You take to Google to find a course, such as “The best pallet business course.” You choose the first listing and it seems great. The creator and instructor has been in business for 20 years and there are countless testimonials and videos on their social media sites about how good of a program it is and how successful they are. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

But here’s the problem - you’re taking the word of paid influencers and specifically chosen reviews. What do you actually know about the course creator and their business? It’s time to go beyond social media and the program website and start doing some due diligence.

Find the Pallet Business on the Secretary of State Website

Did you know you can look up any business on the Secretary of State website of the state where their business is located or licensed? The instructor or course provider should share the name of their existing business so they can show their expertise. For example, if they say they’re a trucking expert, their business history should reflect this.

Simply look up the course creator or their business name, and you’ll see when their business was established, where, and the type of business it is, such as an LLC or a corporation.

If the course creator has a pallet recycling business or something similar as well as their instructional program, it should be easy to find. Look for information including:

  • How long the business has been operating;
  • Standing with the Better Business Bureau;
  • Reviews about the business;
  • The business website.

By doing your due diligence and learning about the course creator’s business, you can determine if they align with your values and if they are the voice of experience they are claiming to be before you invest in their course.

Know What’s Included in the Course Fees and Curriculum

If you’re comfortable with the creator of the course, the next step is getting clarity on what is covered when you purchase the course. For example, is it a few video tutorials and that’s it, or will you get instructional videos, downloadable resources to help organize your business, and ongoing communication with the instructor to ask questions?

Is the Course Appropriate for Your Skill Level?

Also, make sure the course starts where you are. For example, if you are brand new to the service business you’re considering, will this course be appropriate for beginners with no experience or is it designed for people who already have a foundation?

Will You Have Support During the Course?

If you’re taking a course to start your own pallet business, will you be able to reach out to the instructor to ask questions or get clarity? Too many courses rely on private Facebook groups where fellow and former students are answering questions, and while it’s fine to have a conversation, it’s so important to have the instructor present to share correct information and get everyone on the same page.
